Shawn Turner’s images can been seen on web pages, calendars, magazine covers, newspapers as well as walls across North America. He has also been nationally accredited for Commercial Photography, Sports Photography and Stock/Rodeo Photography by the Professional Photographers of Canada.
Born in London, Ontario, Shawn moved often as a child and was able to sample many landscapes across Canada. Now residing near Calgary, Alberta he feels right at home.
With a love for Western culture, Shawn demonstrates a fundamental understanding of rural Alberta life. From capturing the perfect mountain sunset, to Rodeo in action or the simplicity of land as art, Shawn can set the perfect mood through the images he captures.
Studying Creative Photography at Humber Collage in Toronto, Shawn obtained an 87% average in his final year of 2007. He shot for the Toronto Argonauts for the 2007 & 2008 Season as well as Woodbine Thoroughbred Racetrack under Michael Burns for five racing seasons. Shawn has also had the privilege to work with an award-winning portrait and wedding photographer, Jose Paulo for 3 years (Images by Paulo Photography).
Shawn was awarded Silver Medal in 2005 with Skills Canada (Photography) and in 2006 was “Photographer of the Year” with the Dodge Rodeo Tour in which he was the official photographer from 2004 until 2010. He was also presented with the “Award of Merritt” as well as the “Award of Excellence” by The Professional Photographers of Canada for his images “Sentinel” and “Buck Wild” at the National Print Show in 2007.
